BENDUNGAN BATU BULAN

Inaugurated in 2002 by President Megawati, the Batu Bulan Dam is the largest dam in West Nusa Tenggara and the second largest in Indonesia.

This dam is located in Batu Bulan Village, Moyo Hulu District, Sumbawa Regency.  The dam, which is 18 kilometers from the city of Sumbawa Besar, can irrigate an area of 5,100 hectares.  With a capacity of 15 liters per second, this dam has various functions: meeting the needs of livestock drinking water, controlling floods, and becoming a breeding ground for freshwater fish.

Every day, the Batu Bulan Dam becomes a tourist spot for local residents.  The cool air offered by this place is the reason many people feel at home here for long.  Sport fishing and canoeing can be an alternative activity that can be done at this dam.

At low tide in the dry season, you can see small islands popping up on the dam.  Camping while enjoying the atmosphere can also be done on the dam which is the biggest source of fresh water on Sumbawa Island.

SUMUR GUMULING, TAMANSARI, YOGYAKARTA

Two hundred years ago, Gumuling Well was the mosque of the kings of Yogyakarta.  Now, the beautiful interior is the target of tourists. Behind the Ngasem Market in Yogyakarta, tourists will find a ticket window into the Taman Sari water palace.  Before being attacked by Britain and some of its buildings collapsed due to the earthquake of 1867, Taman Sari was a very beautiful bathing pool for the empress of Yogyakarta.  The Sultan and relatives of the palace often visit for recreation and seek tranquility.
At present only a few buildings in Taman Sari are still standing.  Some have been restored, others look like the ruins that were demolished by residential settlements.  One remaining is Sumur Gumuling, a building located in the Taman Sari underground passageway. Gumuling wells are Portuguese-Javanese architecture and resemble a circular theater with artificial ponds in the center and cavities in the dome.  As the name implies, the gumuling in Java means spinning in a circle.  And there is a well in the middle of the building.
This building was once an underground mosque.  The philosophy behind the design is interesting, which is only one entrance to the Gumuling Well which symbolizes that humans are created from the ground and will return to the ground. Gumuling well does not need loudspeakers, because the rounded roof creates good acoustic space so that the sound of the priest can still be heard.  The mosque is divided into two floors, lower for female worshipers and above for male worshipers.  Four stairs lead to a small courtyard, then one stair leads to the second floor.  The five are symbols of the pillars of Islam, with one staircase going up to the upper floor representing the fifth pillar that goes up on the pilgrimage if it is capable. Now, this historic mosque is one of the important tourist destinations in Gudeg City, Yogyakarta.  Most visitors use it as a 'narcissistic background' or a Pre Wedding photo spot. To get out of the Gemuling Well, tourists return through the dark alley just as they will enter.  In fact, this hall is very long.  The community believes that once the passageway penetrated to the South Coast of Java, more precisely in Parangtritis.  Now the translucent road has been closed. Planning a trip to Yogyakarta?  Don't just stop by Malioboro, stop for a while at Sumur Gumuling. The location is not far away, only about 300 meters west of the Yogyakarta Palace.
